5 Tips on SOLO HIKING and your SAFETY – hiking tips from a female solo hiker
Are you hiking solo or thinking about it? Check out these 5 safety tips. I can talk about this for hours, but solo hiking is probably one of the best experiences in my life. If done right, it can be for you as well. I will make a few more videos on this topic, and especially about why I hike solo. my first solo hike, hiking solo as a woman and how I got the courage to hike alone.
Bear with me as I develop these videos over time. I quickly mention in this video as well why I hike and a few tips about female solo hiking.
These hiking solo safety tips are not to discourage you, rather to encourage you to prepare and go.
As always, happy hiking! π

good content Dori's Hiking Adventures. I shattered the thumbs up on your video. Keep up the quality work.
i like that tip to know how far you are from town in case of emergency, know how to read a map, etc.
Wow the microphone makes a huge difference!!
Thanks for the great tips π
the only thing I would say about carrying a knife and hoping to use as a defence tool, is that an attacker may take it off you and use it against you, so be careful… a whistle or an alarm might be a better idea…
Great video, I am so glad you mentioned coms/beacon. Without this, there will be no medical assistance, which has the same outcome as no 1st aid at all. It's the point almost everyone fails on.
Even for me (a guy), some kind of protection is a must when solo hiking. My understanding is that it is illegal in Australia to carry anything for that purpose. Just don't ever say that is the reason you carry something, it will open you to criminal charges. However, you may need a knife to cut cordage, something to chop wood or clear undergrowth for your tent etc. If that just happens to be handy in a chance encounter that goes bad, well and good for you. Just remember it's of no use if it's out of reach when you need it.
Nice video! I go out Solo on Day trips all the time, I definitely always tell someone where I am going and i always have my trail mapped out on a GPS device, with a backup on my phone it can be so easy to lose the trail in scrubby areas that aren't frequently visited π I always take too much water and extra snacks.
Nice info for solo hikers. I enjoy solo hiking as well.
Thx Dori, keep up the great work and congrats on your milestone! ππ½

New subscriber here Dori! Looking forward to sharing adventures with you!
I have heard about this Garmin inreach, but not sure it's necessary in Europe. I hate snakes! Glad we don't have them overhere! Or at least not too many! Have a great Sunday! Kaat
