Backpacking Basics – 5 Days Hiking in Colorado's Gore Range
I have had a lot of people contacting me asking for advice in regards to a backpacking trip. So my last hike I turned the camera on how I handle all the basics from hanging a bear bag, filtering water to easy meals. This is just one representation of how things can be done but we encourage you to go out on your own and find out what works for you. I hope you enjoy it and if you don’t need to learn the basics hopefully you will enjoy the lovely scenery of the Gore Range in Colorado.

Why is that poor dog chained
SOOOO far from minimalistic!!! 🤔
lol…jumping around totally barefoot…thats asking for trouble.
Thank you for posting the fantastic video. It was gorgeous and very informative. When you were filtering your water, you were worried about getting some drops of unfiltered water on the threads of your water bottle. I hear this all the time. But if you think about it and use some common sense, if you got sick from a few drops of water on the threads your water bottle, you would never be able to swim in any body of water anywhere. Just think about that. You have to ingest enough micro organisms to overwhelm your body’s defenses. That’s when you get sick. God bless you both. John
Heavy back pack, (;´Д`)
I like how even the dog carries his weight too. 😎
I live in the mountains outside of boulder colorado and yes he does need all that stuff in that pack other than the water fillter i boil my water to drink thats the only difference and i have never had diarrhea or got sick good video.
What a sweet and intelligent dog; a true blue pal. He even let’s you guys use him as a soft pillow, while keeping watch. 🐕
Finally someone talking about something other than going light
Son, you`re in the BEAUTIFUL Colorado wilderness with your gal & your pooch….PINCH YOURSELF—you`re LIVIN !!!
What tent are using?
Thumbs up ,packs down
I work on a roof and I get hotspots all day long with new good socks
Rembee that feeling ,and don't loose it, peaple work there whole lives just for that nirvana moment in the hike
Guess what it costs to pack with the lightest of things? Nevermind u can't afford it unless you grow a acre of weed
Why doesn't the u.v. from the sun work to kill bacteria in the whole stream
One of the best hiking videos I’ve watched so far and I’ve watched mountains of them.lol. Only one thing I would wish for that is to see much more scenery. Being disabled and old I can’t walk out in the forests any longer. I still try though. Blessings.
Moving to Colorado soon! Yes
Thank you guy's!!!!
Don't be a crap-packer!! Also, hiking in booze is fun.
Good information on pack loading, etc., for younger dudes and duddetts. It's great information for beginning backpackers. When I was younger, I could haul those monster pacts all day. Not any more. At 66, to still keep backpacking, I've trimmed my base weight down to 22-25 #s depending on the season. As equipment has improved and gotten lighter, I've learned I can survive very comfortably on a lot less than I use to carry in my old external frame Jansport pack.
What breed is Summit?
cutting your meet consumption can cut your carbon footprint by ~30% – protecting the wilderness we all love so much
I remembering about two years ago I watched this video, after my friends brother got back from a trip to Colorado. I just remember wanting to in the mountains so bad. Looking back your video helped motivated me to get a couple trips in to Colorado
