Hiking A Volcano in Kamikochi – Yakedake, Nagano 4K

Thank you Storyblocks for sponsoring this video! Check them out at

Kamikochi is without a doubt my favourite place in all of Japan and it’s not even close! How can such outrageous beauty exist in just one place? This time Chris and I decided to take on the *relatively easy* hike to Yakedake. It’s the only active volcano in the Kamikochi region and even though it can be done in a day hike, the views did not disappoint! We stayed at the hut overnight so we could see sunrise at the top, which ended up being well worth it!

It was 2-3ish hours from the center of Kamikochi to the hut and another hour and 20 minutes to the top from there, but it’s easier from the otherside haha.

The overnight bus we caught was this one:
It wasn’t the most comfortable bus though, so keep that in mind if you’ve got a big hike ahead of you.

Thank you Chris for everything you do to help me film, hike and just have fun on all these trips! Go follow him on instagram to see his photography and FPV skills:
