Hiking Gear, Horse Skulls & Rock Art (Vandwelling/SUV Camping Adventures)
In this video I embark on a 33-mile day hike in Death Valley National Park. Touted as Death Valley’s “premier backpacking route,” the Cottonwood-Marble Canyon Loop takes in slot canyons, petroglyphs, natural springs, wild horses, wide-open valleys, and more.

This is another vlog in my series from January and February 2017. I left northern Utah, where I live, and traveled down through southern Utah, southern Nevada, western Arizona, southern California, and back through central Nevada, all while camping and adventuring out of my 2011 Toyota RAV4.

Fantastic hike! And just syk (so you know), I finished this video in one sitting; very enjoyable! Thanks Tristan!
👍👍
I know this hike was a few yrs ago. But i really liked it. It looked like a very simple hike. And i like simple hikes.
Respect!! ! You continue to amaze and inspire! Thank you! Grateful you share your journey! What a hike, you make it look effortless. Hiking in the dark, alone, that's epic!
Very good video. I'm a VERY slow hiker, wrecked my ankles a number of years ago. So it is what it is. But I've always been slow. I thought it was interesting to hear your perspective re: fast hikes. To me you appear to be the quintessential nature lover, It doesn't seem like you miss much. I think hiking alone makes you more aware. It's an interesting area, somewhat defies what I think of as death valley. But i have lived in the desert long enough to know how much unexpected there is.
What a hike! It looks like a UFO at the 7:12 mark where you're showing the rock art. Actually, there's another dome up and to the right of that one, too, though it looks a little less like a UFO.
Tristan just moves fast. He seriously hates to be slow. He still enjoys it all.
Thanks for taking us on that journey! You're a trooper!
Great video. Thanks. I'm lucky if I do 7 miles in a day. Beautiful country.
I know you are a hiking ninja but I was very concerned about you hiking in the dark. I didn't see any self-defense or first aid gear listed. Please re-consider packing pepper spray, a knife, a gun, nunchucks or whatever. First aid kits don't weigh much. Traveling mercies – The Lord will keep you from all harm.
Well that was an amazing trip you took us on! Thanks for sharing and for the great photography. What kind of shoes do you use to hike?
Wow,what a great hike.Congrats!!!!! I appreciate your effort,good job!!!!!!
Nice Hike. LoL about those very well worn out trail runners. You do any special tricks to avoid blisters on a long day hike like that?
were ur feet sore after all those miles
