I just read about the Wander Women for the first time yesterday. The greatest thing about my discovery was that this discovery happened right in the middle of my own (solo) visit to the Tucson area, where I've been hiking every day. This is a two-week getaway for me (to thaw out and renew my spirit) with hiking being my focus. I'm so geeked that our paths could intersect while here. Last summer I did a solo hike on a section of the North Country Trail in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I did a section that ran through Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. If you decide to do another U.S. trail in its entirety, the NCT might just be the one to do. I'm involved with a group of walkers in Ann Arbor (my hometown), and we call ourselves the Sqwalkers; we do a lot of walking and talking and have seen one another through many of life's joys and sorrows, talking things through and supporting one another all the way. We're all very active, retirement-age women. I've already shared my discovery of Wander Women with them. You're very inspiring! I wish you a good adventure in the Tucson area. Maybe I'll see you on the trail!
Isn't this just a wonderful park? I was lucky to visit there a few years ago. And listening to Elgar's Salut d'Amour is such a treat. Thanks for sharing.
I like the word crenulated for those unusually shaped saguaros, too. But if you want another way to describe them, they are called cristate cactus (which should be easy to remember ;))
Nice to see you two enjoying yourself! Nice hike. Love that you mentioned the PCT and Cascade Locks. My husband and I hike in the Columbia River gorge almost every day
I don’t know if you all watch other people vlogs but there is one I follow I think you might like. The guy’s channel is Jay Wanders Out and he films all of his adventures. He is currently on the AT but last year he hiked the Arizona Trail and his filming of that trail and his experience of it so reminds me of you all. He is unfailingly positive and full of wonder. His excitement over those giant cacti is a wonder to behold. Just a thought. Nice to see you moving at walking speed again!
Thank you for showing us a picture the the Crested soral cactus, at the end if your video. I have never seen one in person or in a book. It was very interesting, almost royal. Also once again thanks for sharing you adventures.
Generate Exuberance? Manifest Magnitude? Develop Tenacity? I love Annette's comment alluding to the importance of word power 🙂 ! I'm throwing out a challenge for you to only use 6+ letter words for the closers on your next video! Thanks for sharing and vlogging your adventures! Much appreciated and enjoyed!
Great, now I’m missing Tucson. I loved the smell of rain in the desert. It smells like creosote bushes after rain. Here’s a (maybe) new word for you – “petrichor.”
Looks like a really cool place! Wish I was there hiking with you ❤ I'm in Baltimore right now visiting family and freezing my ass off! Sooooo cold. Back in San Diego on March 2nd. Yahoo!
Thanks for the tour of the beautiful park and getting us outdoors again. Always appreciate your adventures and how you share them. 3 weeks and I hit the AT!!!
Never complain about rain in Arizona. Every day of rain is a gift. Love Saguaro visited both sides last month with our kids. Ironwood National Monument north of Tucson is a lot less used and more pristine. Not many hiking opportunities but the road is great for biking undulating gravel low traffic beautiful views. Keep enjoying AZ!
That is my favorite National Park. I was there at beginning of Covid and visitor center was closed. I just was amazed at the number of cacti. I kept trying to figure out how old some of them were. And what the lived thru for hundreds of years.
I love words! Crenelated is a fantastic word. Our kitchen cabinets touch the ceiling and the crown molding I used on them is crenelated! Another great word, which I learned from a cyclist friend, is pannier. It has many meanings, but in this case, as you know, it’s like a back pack for a bicycle. I noticed that Annette had one on her bike. When will you have your full compliment of gear and go on a test ride? A lot of your hiking gear should work well, shouldn’t it? Thanks for taking us along!
Oh ladies…I’m stuck in Upstate New York this winter. We spent the winters of ‘19, ‘20 and ‘21 in Tucson but a real estate transaction has kept us here this year. Please keep exploring and posting videos so I can live vicariously through you! And if you want to bring tears to my eyes, go take a hike in one of our favorite places (that most tourists don’t know about so it’s quiet)- Tucson Mountain Park. Be sure to loop past the Bowen House…the scenery is breathtaking.
wow wish our fair grounds had full hook ups we have a huge grass field everyone has to park almost on top of each other to get a spot. So much beauty is always captured in your videos thank you for sharing it with us.
I don't remember your ever posting a plan for this big bike trip so I will ask here – what is the daily plan? are you camping? are you stopping at points of interest to hike? Just wondering the details.
“Make a Plan”: I need to make a plan for next winter, to get out of Michigan! It’s 18 degrees out, today!!! I love winter, but boy this year it’s been really cold here. (SW corner) I don’t like the idea of traveling alone, I have a camper, but if I don’t change my thinking, I’ll never go anywhere! My Best Friend, died last June. It’s a huge adjustment! I’m 70. I don’t have many years left to do strenuous trips. So my caption will be: Change Your Way of Thinking!” Thank you for taking me along! I love your Words of Wisdom at the end. Gail
The music playing when you start your hike:? You’ve used it before and I can’t figure out what it is. Would love to know, thank you. P.S. Crenellated battlements!! 👍
If still in the area, I suggest Sabine Canyon trails. The one that heads for seven falls is good. You can continue past them into the deeper canyons and hike to campsite which is reachable by road going to Mt. lemon. Or so it was in the 90’s😀
I miss the area, Mason and you guys! Say "hi" to him if you see him again! Glad you're out there having fun!

Brilliant Sharing Great Women! Lot of love and great respect from a solo mountain hiker friend from the Lower Chitral District of Pakistan.
This place looks amazing! We hope to soon do some out west treks and this is right up the alley of the kind of things we hope to see!

Its so beautiful there. We had a sunny warm day today in NashvilleTn.
There’s a crested cactus in the San Tan Mountains in my backyard near Queen Creek, AZ. I got to visit it on one of my hikes 😊

Y’all do a great job with your videos! Thank you so much!
Isn't the surface of a saguaro crenulated? 😊
🥰
Couldn't agree more about Wordle! Crenellated is perfect! I've seen those in the Tonto Basin.
Your videos have inspired me to get in shape again and set some goals. Hopefully, I will be hiking short trails soon. ❤️
Thank you for showing
us a picture the the Crested soral cactus, at the end if your video.
I have never seen one in person or in a book.
It was very interesting,
almost royal.
Also once again thanks for sharing you adventures.
While I have enjoyed your videos since your AT days, I feel I have to weigh in for crenellated as a better description.

You inspire me so much!
We were just hiking their today! Got a bit toasty.
Good birdwatching there too!

Wow gorgeous area💕
Nice upload, shot at 6:05 is brilliant.
Loved Saguaro NP! You gotta do the western side, its far better than tbe eastern side. Love it!

Love Saguaro National Park! I volunteered and did some trail maintenance back in 2008. I definitely want to go back!
My favorite flower is the Peony! Her farm must smell amazing! ❤ Happy Trails! 🌈

Yay!! You found it!! 🌵

Loved the crested 🌵. Thanks for showing it to us.
Hey Ladies, Just wanted to know how Lynn was?
Happy you both had a good hike🌟Beautiful clouds and cacti✨
"Crenellated Cactus" is fun to say. 😉 Very cool to see your pic of it at the end. Thanks for another fun video! Be safe.

Just a beautiful hike💯🤩
Love the hike and the music! Bright Blessings! 💛💛💛
Love that crinalated, (I know that isn't the spelling) cactus at the end of the video. Just an assumption. Beautiful hike.
