Hiking Season Safety Tips


April 13, 2015 – NAZ Today discusses ways to stay safe while hiking while still enjoying Flagstaff’s great outdoors.

Sargent Aaron Dick, Search and Rescue Coordinator, says that we are entering the peak season for hiking related calls. Dick also says that it is important to know the symptoms of elevation sickness.

Dave Logan, Four Seasons Guide, says there are safety concerns when hiking in hot weather. Logan says it is best to avoid the hottest part of the day and begin your hikes early in the morning or later in the evening. Logan says one of the most important things is to be aware of your body and surroundings while hiking.
