Hiking with Carlo – What Makes Paragliding Backpack Comfortable
Let’s hike with Carlo. In today’s video Carlo shares his thoughts about the basics of paragliding backpacks and what makes them comfortable to carry.
This backpack is the one that comes with the Advance IMPRESS 4 harness.
Its shape and volume are optimised for the harness + the gear most likely paired with it.
For other gear, a different backpack might suit better.

The website is nice but it's lacking one thing, a breakdown of everything that the bag can carry and what it has space for.
Do you have any backpack review or comparison videos?
Thanks for exploring this topic! In my opinion the Woody Valley “Rucksack light 2” is very very good for comfort! They have number of different sizes to choose from depending on your gear. The bags are extremely light to begin with and the shoulder strap, waist strap, chest straps are well designed! You also find number of small and big storage areas designated for phone, camelback, walking stick end else! I love mine and I do hike with my gear a lot.
How about a Hike and Fly episode? What sleep system and tent to pack and how to take them with you?
I find it's most comfortable when someone else is carrying it for me. That's my top tip!
woody valley is what makes a backpack comfortable :p I've got an M size one with a nova altus+aonic XXS in a gin concertina compress and the fit is perfect and the whole thing feels just great. The stock nova backpack was pretty damn awful though.
I have a xxl/tandem backpack for my normal glider+harness. It makes it a lot easier to pack, no more jumping on the backpack to close the zipper. When traveling, I can pack a lot of extra stuff in there, so I can get by with just the backpack and an airplane carryon bag even on multi-week trips.
Taller the better. Keeps the weight bearing down on the hips. Pockets at the bottom to stow things whilst on retrieve.
i want to experience paragliding ❤️ keep safe
