2020 Hike UPDATE!!!
This video was shot weeks before I started my AT Hike & just published today. As of yesterday, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy has asked all Thru-Hikers to Postpone their hikes & for hikers already on the trail to get off. I made the decision to respect the ATC’s Wishes & respect the towns surrounding the trail by getting off & ending my hike for now. I’m currently at a friends house in Tennessee waiting to see what happens.
Yesterday I released this information on my IG Account. If you would like more up to date information about what I’m doing to change my plans, follow me over there. Thanks.
Hike On,
Darwin
you edit on your iphone? It woulld be interesting to see your workflow while on trail. that's kind of amazing
G'day Darwin.
I am just starting out hiking and i am wondering if starting with an 5 to 6 miles a good way to start with. kinda like an halve day hike.
I do have an disability but i do walk ok with short breaks but i want to go for longer hikes later on. oh yes I live in QLD Australia.
Gerard.
You're a legend. I can't wait for you to see what my 5 year old is up to.
Hey?? When are you doing the Great Divide Trail?
I've built pillow by putting downjacked to the dry bag and after that I put it inside my fleece jacket. Works very well and no extra weight from separate pillow.
hank you Darwin I use a 35ltr pack but I will use some of our methods on packing on my next out door experience
Don't forget the tampons
Enjoyed all your videos. 2L of water seems very little. Is that enough for you to carry until the next water source?
Fanny pack 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi Darwin! Question I have not yet seen answered. You use a dry sack for your quilt and cloths. What size dry sack are you using?
Oh yeah nothing beats a fixed 24mm lens.
What brand/size of bag do you put you pot and stove into?
Love your videos man thanks for all the info! Quick question when you have a second. Other than the weight, is there any reason you prefer frameless of a pack with a frame? I ask bc I currently rock the Osprey Talon 22 but it seems like the frames break down over time. Happy trails!
What do you use to edit video/photos while on the trail? I have an iPhone 11 Pro, and I want to know what is best to do stuff on the trail
I also have the the Alpaca hoodie. I have Enlightened equipment Hooded vest which I use in combination with hoodie and rain jacket. Keeps me plenty warm and I save 3 oz. I can also hike with the vest where the jacket is to warm.
In an older video you were talking about how you like to keep things "simple" and "functional" and "practical".
To save weight and for multitasking purposes, I am thinking about using my NF puffy down jacket and my down pants, when I am on the AT instead of a sleeping bag during the colder months and when the temperature warms up, I can use it as a very comfortable down pillow. Would that be practical?
Your videos are very informative – keep up the good work!
Check out the mini Manfrotto tripod.
I sleep on ground don't like air pads what u recommend I do have big wool anarok I just got lol
Does your EE quilt smell? I have the EE Revelation quilt and after one day of using it, it smells awful. I am guessing it has to do with the treated down. I have never had another sleeping bag or quilt like this. I have tried washing it with a down detergent to see if that would help, but it hasn't made a difference. Just curious what other people's experiences are with these quilts.
hi, any idea why the booties and jacket are synthetic rather than down?
thanks
Now I’m free. Freeballin.
How much did your food weigh ?

no longer completely in love with and wearing/using gaiters?
LOVE when you say "Vote with your wallets…" it's word for word an expression and idea i've used and had for years…
anyone that even tries to argue it being 100% effective stumbles and stammers and tries to change or distract the subject.
hmmm…
we're in a quandry right now with that, as people have been waiting for a.g.c. alpaca hoodies which they've been out of stock on forever and their customer relations is shit.
seems like they got in over their head and don't care about good folks wanting to support good American 'cottage' companies and good American companies with good customer service in general.
won't go more on it just really timely the universe bringing me to your vid while it's going on.
sometimes i'll sacrifice a little to get a piece of gear i'm confident will be worth it which i think this is…then leave ;-))>
be well and safe journeys… >>>

13 lbs! Wow! Impressive!
What did you use for your backpack liner for waterproofing?
How do you fit food and water in that pack?
Welcome to Perú !! 💪🏼
I love your videos ! I'm from Aus and am hoping to hike the Te Araroa trail one day. Your videos are super helpful 🙂
Noob question… What does DCF stand for?
why not framed backpack?
Why not hydration bladder?
Just getting into hiking myself. I have that same camera with a 24-70 RF lens. I went on an 11 mile hike with that and the 30L peak design backpack. Super painful. I'm probably just out of shape.
