Tanks for the video mannnn☺😊☺
a good quality knife like one in roadeavour will be very important on a hike
Hey Steve, I'm headed to Charlotte and would like to check this trail out. Where is it? Thanks.
<——- New Sub here! Thanks for the video its helpful.
How long it take you to make the 5miles, I miss hiking with my 13 months son I just can't go for now but i will definitely will be back to the trails .
I just to make 5 miles on one hour up and down hills over Irvine ca , peters canyon…
"If you haven't been touching your nature self, maybe you should consider it." Probably one of the funniest one liners I've ever heard!
don't worry about your comments about "why are you carrying a gun" or all that" getto" crap. Now days it's not just the wild animals that might want to eat you for dinner it's the morons & criminals that you have to worry about to. I've never seen an animal or person that wants to do something bad wait on a game warden or a cop to get to where you are before they do what they intended on doing. Nothing wrong with carrying a gun just in case anywhere you go.Its not for everyone.
stay out of the woods if you consider a cell phone a nessacity, lol.
You seem like a primadonna
I honestly can't tell if you're for real or…. I mean, I wouldn't accept that knife if you wanted to give it to me for free.
Where are you hiking where you think you need a gun and knife? You need to get out more man.
Can you conceal carry on national parks? I thought you couldn't bring any firearm in national parks
I would take a PLB, saves cutting off your foot…..
hey guys come check my channel out I do hikes in the northwest
A iPhone? iPod? Gun..knife ? U seem very paranoid buddy . Just stay home.
I totally touched my nature self in public and now I'm on a government watchlist…
Thanks for the video man, it was great and I have been pondering hiking for a while. Take Care.
the gun isn't optional for here in Australia, I can't even walk around with a BB gun.. Guess all that's left is a potato gun XD
Man. One of the most EPIC begining to a video I've seen haha. Awesome videos man
Cool video Steve, I like how you showed us your gear then you actually went out for a hike in the same video…I don't think I have ever seen anyone else do that and I liked it. That is certainly sufficient gear for hiking your local parks and trails.
Quite funny. Thank you.
great video! very useful
Ah, one of those…
You kit was helpful
Good video. However, I would leave the gun and the Ipod. The Ipod takes away from nature, and the gun just insinuate fear. I have never ran into a problem with a human on a hike.
Hey Steve, great video with good details. Things I would personally add to your list: A raincoat, flashlight, and most importantly, good bug spray.
LOL you're funny! 🙂 Thanks for sharing your essentials!
your videos are calming and very inspirational. We would be honored if you would subscribe to our channel. We document our hiking and camping adventures. Throw in some good soundtrack and whalla!
Loved this video! I just started hiking, been on 2 local hikes and cannot wait to get out there again! Thanks for sharing! Gotta get that backpack….with your Natural self! Funny!
I would never take an iPod with me and listen to music or podcasts. I just wanna hear the sounds of nature (and if there is none, then I'm happy with the silence). But great video. I'll be going on a huge solo hiking trip to an extremely desolate lake in a few weeks. It's 9 kilometres in, and 9 kilometres back out. Very few have ever made it, so here's hoping I can do it! Thanks for sharing this video! 🙂
Time to buy a gun. Where did you bought it ? Northface store ? Jk .

Terrible knife to take in the woods
If god was real he would want you to bless the world
80 degrees in North Carolina is alot different then 80 degrees in California. Not to mention you body is acclimated to whatever weather you are accustom to. I grew up in 115 degree weather but now that I dont live in it consistently 90 degrees is hot to me.
Well that is hot in some areas, and when your body is not used to 80 degrees all winter, yeah its hot. If you cam here, I guarantee you would be freezing yet I would be saying it is not that cold.
He usually sleeps with a machette under his pillow and when comes that day, day of buying cucumbers in local greengrocer's he's definitelly ready with his AK-47, locked and loaded.
Taylor, I do about 50% of the time when the mood hits me. I'd rather have it and not need it. It's small and lightweight.
You actually bring a gun on a local day hike…?
haha
Maria Sharapova's cap!
Thanks Lorenzo!
hahaha I totally agree with you. I just came across this nice vid. I totally agree with the gear for a day hike. I do carry a gps and map with compass, just in case. The areas I mostly hike have no signal. I always bring a quick munchy like trail mix or jerky. Oh yes, and my knife is bigger 8). Thanks for the video.
No, but you did leave your Eagle Hotel California 8-track. Sorry I never told you.
OK, sitting around the campfire..not speaking, not a word…because WE'RE TEXTING ONE ANOTHER THOUGH WE ARE SEATED ONLY A FEW FEET APART!!!! Back then it was pick up the ONE PHONE in the house, dial the rotor to the desired number and let it ring. If no one picks up, "well, he's out somewhere"…no answering machine, no call forwarding, no NOTHING! We are truly fortunate to live when we did, to see this technology boom. Which reminds me, did I leave my Deep Purple 8-track tape in your car?
Hell yea!
The Watkins cow pasture camping adventures were old school in it's purest form. Glad we didn't set the woods on fire. However I have embraced new technologies. Can you imagine all of us sitting around around the fire with our smart phones discussing our favorite apps?
Camelback? GPS Iphone app? A do-rag? For some reason we never had that material on our camping trips to the wilds or David Watkins cow pasture.
America!
Haha, hey you never know!
In case I have to cut off my own foot?? Wow talk about thinking of worst case scenario 😉
