I have an estwing "riggers ax " more of a long hatchet, really. Excellent functionality with no issues regarding the handle.

I grew up camping and hunting in the bottom lands, a estwing hatchet Is a super tool I normally carry one and a us issue machete with my bk9. In my humble opinion these three tools are the best for the bottom lands of the Arkansas River. The woods that I hunt and camp in now is over 10k square acres of bottom land. Little or no human presence for over 20 years all of the woods are Law Wildlife public lands. Deer hog and all kinds of wild game even seen a small heard of Elk, and even a large population of black tail and mule deer. Your videos are a good refresher course for me and good instructional course for new beganers that like to GI with me out to kaw. Thank you. Keep the videos coming I appetite them.
Good video. Corp had a good suggestion again. π
These great heroes make our country great, support them, there is a lot to learn here!
I always use charclothe but recently tried a cottonball and Vaseline. I've seen it done but never tried that method. I can't believe how easy it lights.
Was already subscribed glad you guys are cool! Both are amazing instructors
this is one of the only channels that I actually learn something i did not know in every video . kudos
Corporals Corner brought me here, he said very good things about your channel. You are a Ranger after all I'll take anything Rangers have to say seriously.
Talk, please. Tell us what you are doing and how and why. Silence just makes me want to skip ahead or just move on.
Way to go old school with the Estwing hatchet and the Buck 110!
Here on the Corporal's orders and YouTube's recommended list.
Great information and very well articulated! I watch The Corporal too!π
I would say Corporal sent me but I would be lying… I have been watching you for well over a year now. You are Awesome!!!
Andrew, great video and info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love you and Mr Kelly. Very matter of fact. Straight to the point. Zero filler. I'm guessing you would vote a "certain way" I might be totally of the mark, but ………brandon.
Damn these are good! Keep them coming.
Lots of useful info. Thx! πΊπΈπ
I find that better than a hatchet is a sharpened leafspring. Not on the side like a knife but on the end. Then the weight saved on the handle is a bow saw blade. I just cut short logs 4 inches maximum and then split them. Much more ergonomically efficient. Safer too.
At home i have a very heavy spring off the leaf spring 0ne centimetres thick. On a stout handle and use it vertically for quite big logs. Even though it's near my feet I have never come close to an accident.
I also use it to get old stumps out
Gravity does the hard work.

Very informative thanks
Hi Andrew. Pls consider making videos on preparing the various wooden tools you presented on your Scout intermediate course review, if its allowed by the school, like the mallet, wedges, pack frame, bucksaw etc., providing info on matl selection, dimensions n actual processing and applications. Something similar I guess to your previous rabbit throwing stick video. Thanks n more power! π
