Yes I am a Woman and I Hike Solo (Smoky Mountains Winter Hiking)
Yes I am a woman and I hike solo all over the world. I had planned to hike to Clingmans Dome in the Smoky Mountains National Park, but a winter road closure had me changing plans and finding some new trails in Appalachia.

Why do you love to hike?
Living in fear is not living at all…
I hike with friends/family or alone it just depends I really dislike when people say oh hiking alone is the worst all the stories of missing people are lone hikers and I pull out multiple stories of people gone missing while hiking in groups shuts them up real quick.
Women that hike with out a dog or a gun.is just playing Russian roulette. And men die to being in the woods with no protection. It is OK to be alone but not with out protection. I worked for search and rescue. There are 1000s of fools we have never found ok.animales kill most.
.
Just found your videos I enjoy them be safe until next time
I like being out in the back country of the smokies but I have my Colt and my big 🦶👣 👣👣👣👣 spray .
I hope you take safety precautions
Lots of men would feel very vulnerable hiking alone in the wilderness. You're highly skilled so you feel safe. The "personal battle" and reflection from solo hikes is fun so I understand why you do it.
Just be careful hiking alone too.
Do you hike solo because you are single and don’t have a partner to hike with?
Ur solo???? Who is holding the camera fr u
I, a man, traveled (drove) to Utah on a solo trip. I planned my first solo trip of two weeks to camp and photograph nature (mostly nightscapes) alone. I had to prepare for possible rattlesnake and mountain lion encounters since I would be off the trails at night. I ended up returning home after five days. I blamed my the cutting short the trip on the smoky skies (wildfires), but the truth is, I missed sharing my experiences with my wife or a friend along the way. Texting wasn't enough for me. I admire you, Alice, for breaking free of social norms. You obviously prepare well and have confidence in yourself. I see you take pride in being mostly self-reliant. Helen Reddy would admire you too.
So inspiring 🧚🏼♀️🍂🌾 i love your YouTube channel 🧡
I'm a female hiker and I ALWAYS pack my pistol. IF you don't, one day your luck will run out.
I prefer to home alone. Especially in the smokies. I like to move at my own speed and not have to worry about anyone else.
Love your message and your dad gave you some awesome advice.
Thank you for your words about women being solo! It's women like you that have empowered me. <3
Can I just say I love you for being your whole authentic self. Also I am totally living vicariously through you at the moment before my own personal journey and I appreciate you for sharing yours with us. Definitely appreciate the fact that we can free ourselves
If you see a deer take a picture for me.
thumb up!
Very good video
I would choose you as an inspiring person to help guide my Great Grand daughter.
I noticed you hike with one trekking pole instead of two…. I might leave one of mine at home next hike. But, just wondering…do you feel like you have less clutter/more control with just the one?
4:17 i was enjoying the video about the hike but at this point you started to focus on a negative point and societal issues. Its great that your hiking alone as long as you are letting someone know about where your going to be and when to expect you back by, this applies to men and women alike for safety but I'm sure you know that 🙂
You dont have to voice that your a woman doing powerful things, just show us. We all know actions speak louder than words and you are super capable of plenty of action! Keep up the videos! 🙂
Very well put and keep up the good work I have been backpacking and staying a week at a time in Backcountry wilderness solo for a long time and you're completely right about educating yourself trying to educate others preparedness and knowing what you're doing. Where I go I don't run into hardly anybody but when I do majority of the time it is a young woman solo way more than I run into guys. I think that's awesome!!. On another note do not listen to the negativity of people that say you shouldn't do this or that, they have never experienced the wilderness and can't do it themselves. These people have absolutely no business commenting on something they have no experience with 👍🎣🎣🏕️🏕️🦌
very well explained. Ill watch all your videos.
I hate to burst your bubble but you are not 10 times stronger than a man, you are not a man. I know we live in a time of female self empowerment, but delusions don't help. Awesome solo hike though, keep up the good work 👍
Hardly a rant but just good food for thought. I'm older (78), went to Thailand when my wife died and hike in the mountains and rice paddies where the school I volunteer teach is located. Always solo. Having had a binary pulmonary emboli when hiking in the Sierras which put me on a blood thinner I wouldn't think of hiking without a guide and am so thankful that they were available on my 3 treks in the Himalayas, 2 treks in Yunnan Province, China and two treks in Taiwan. But more importantly for me is the history and cultural lessons they share with me. But I love my long solo training hikes. That when the world seems to be at peace. Thanks Alice. I just discovered you today. Can't wait to view your Kilimajaro video.
Just because you're a woman and you hike solo, that makes you cool and we're supposed to be impressed? F##k outta here
Because their a lot of men fathers that care because unfortunately their are bad people in this world, and it’s a persons and father’s most anyway to protect that’s all
She is lonely
Summit was spectacular thank you for that just subscribed you are Killing it good Vibes from San Francisco California USA
This was great! I can appreciate your rant on hiking alone. Very spiritual and empowering and something I think we all need to hear constantly…
